STRING PUPPETS

The string puppet, or marionette, is probably the most complicated puppet to make and to work. They were a feature of Victorian fairgrounds and shows in large touring theatres, made their way into the music halls and later the variety theatres across the country.

Since the earliest days of television they have been popular, Muffin the Mule is television's earliest star and he's still working, as of course are Bill and Ben and The Thunderbirds.

And where would our childhoods be without Pinocchio? Collodi's creation of a puppet longing to be a real boy is timeless, leaving the marionette prominent in people's minds when they think of puppets.

These puppets are very time consuming to make so you will be able to save a lot of labour, and more importantly time by hiring a marionette. We have a variety of humans and animals, in all shapes and sizes, some performing tricks whilst others are enjoying a retirement and are suitable for display.

Marionette manipulation is now a rare skill amongst puppeteers, but we can supply or recommend experienced performers for your projects if required.
